This morning, I was reading about the first day of his defence. Whether he's innocent or guilty is for the court to decide, but I agree with him that the 60’s and 70’s were a different age. The contraceptive pill had liberated women and, possibly, if the women had complained at the time they wouldn't have been listened to.
A frequent comment during the trial has been about the size of Clifford's penis. It's either been described as freakishly small or enormous. An expert (where do they find these experts?) has measured it and declared it average, specifically five and a quarter inches long (13.3cm) when flaccid. I wonder how many men reading the paper today will be taking out their tape measure! As with all statistics, it depends on the starting point and a good statistician can arrive at any conclusion.
Another revelation was that Clifford went to sex parties organised by Diana Dors, a blonde bombshell of the late 50's and 60's. She was born Diana Mary Fluck, but I won't comment on that! What I did think odd was that there is no judgement on her having the parties; only the fact that Clifford went to them.
I'm sure that many more facts will come to light before the end of the trial, but am not sure whether it's fair to an individual, liked or not, to have his intimate life reported about in such detail. If guilty, the facts could become known, but if innocent, those facts would have been intermingled with lies and that could be an unfair stain on one's character.
